Its claim to fame might not be the most
wholesome: a wild party every full moon
that’s been keeping people on the other
side of sobriety for more than 20 years.
Welcome to Koh Phangan, an island
misunderstood by most, but loved by
many. It is located just 30 minutes away from
the busy pace of Koh Samui, but it feels worlds apart.

|

Likely, you already know all about the Full Moon Party. So, without sounding too arrogant: It is all
that, and then some. Love it or hate it, it does bring a whole lot of party goers together, most
notably gangs of kids on their gap year who drank a bit too much. |
| |
Haad Rin is a very popular beach on the southeast coast of the island (it hosts the Full Moon
Party) although it could be congested during the party season, it features a comprehensive
collection of international restaurants, trendy bars, and lively shopping. Haad Rin is only about
15 minutes away from the villas at Awe Resort via the many shared taxis that run 24 hours
along the entrance to the resort. |

Partying aside, the island boasts a stunning wealth of natural beauty. Most of the island is a
preserved national park with challenging hikes and viewpoints. Triathlons and mountain bike
races are a regular fixture for the island. The diving around Koh Phangan is stunning, with
easy access to unbelievable coral reefs. Yoga is abundant. |
| |
The charm is that it still feels like an island. No crazy-big condos, malls, and outlets (at least,
not yet). Everyone is really laid back and friendly. There is something for everyone here: from
world-class parties to postcard-perfect beaches. Come see for yourself. |
