Top Beaches on Koh Phangan
Each of the beach listed below can be easily reached from Awe
Baan Tai: Spectacular sunsets
Awe Resort is located in the middle of the unbroken,
white sand sunset beach that runs the length of the
southeast coast. Most of the land along the coastline
has been farmed as coconut plantation and the area
takes on a dreamy desert island feel with palms
leaning into the calm emerald sea, which is rich in coral and marine life.
Haad Rin: Eat, drink and be merry
Full of sun-worshippers during the day and party
people at night, Haad Rin easily has the biggest
concentration of clubs in the Gulf of Thailand, with a wide spectrum of dance music played at different venues and beachside drinking and dining
on mats on the sand. The southern half of the beach is populated by nightclubs and restaurants
while the northern end is mostly taken up by hotels and bungalows.
Haad Yao: Powdery sand and gorgeous water
Haad Yao is postcard material, with a beach wide enough to accommodate sunset views,
beautiful vistas and more than enough space to allow for its ever expanding popularity. The
beach still retains its natural splendor and laid-back vibe that drew the first travelers here.
Chaloklum: Romantic fisherman’s village
The fishing trade dominates the mid-section of the beach where the village is located. Take
in the dazzling view of the colorful handcrafted long-tail boats as you feast on locally caught
seafood at beachfront restaurants. You can hire a boat to take you to nearby beaches.
Haad Khom: A hidden gem for snorkeling and privacy
Haad Khom is a pretty little beach on the west side of Chaloklum Bay known for its solitude.
It’s about a 30-minute walk through the mountains from Chaloklum along a dirt road. The
extensive living coral reef makes Haad Khom a popular spot for snorkeling.
Mae Haad: Quiet beach with a sandbar-connected island
A long beach with soft white sand and a surrounding coral reef that’s designated as a national
marine park, Mae Haad beach is rich with marine life and has a sand bar that you can walk
across to reach the adjacent island of Koh Ma.
